Sat 4th Feb 2012: Oxford Permaculture Group - Cultivate - people powered food
Speaker change: There has been a change to the Permaculture talk happening this Saturday. Unfortunately the talk on Permaculture in Latin America has had to be postponed. However, we are delighted to say that we have found an alternative speaker, Julian Cottee from Cultivate, the new food social enterprise in Oxford (details below).
2pm. Talk by Julian Cottee, a founding member of Cultivate, a new social enterprise in Oxford aiming to make great local, food fairly-priced, convenient and accessible to more people in and around Oxford. Cultivate is community owned and Julian will speak about the community ownership structure and its possibilities and challenges. This will be an informal friendly talk and discussion. Open to all.
The group will also be mapping out the permaculture beds and discussing planting. The Oxford Permaculture group session runs 2pm-5pm.
About Cultivate
Cultivate is a new cooperative social enterprise aiming to increase the amount of locally-grown food available in Oxford and nearby. By growing food on a 5-acre market garden just outside of the city and working with other local growers, Cultivate will supply a mobile greengrocery taking fresh fruit and veg to people when it's convenient for them. Cultivate is owned by its members, people from all over who are coming together to help fund and lend their skills and enthusiasm to getting this project started.

Sun 5th Feb 2012: Out of the Dragon's Cave - A BodyWave workshop
11am-5pm. To celebrate our collective emergence into the potency of the New Year, the Oxford Tantra Wave brings you a day of tender opening, physical grounding, pounding pulses and sweaty rhythms in a body to body, heart to heart celebration.
We will journey together through partner yoga, ecstatic dance, and heart-centred meditation. We shall seek to shake ourselves free of last year’s ghosts and winter chills, honour the dark gifts of the winter, and dance our way back into the power and into the light. Uniting body and spirit, self and community, fire and water, love and movement, this day offers the perfect opportunity to call up from the mysterious depths of our selves all that we wish to manifest for the year ahead, as we awaken the dragons within!
All welcome – this journey is equally open to complete beginners and advanced explorers. No previous experience of yoga, ecstatic dance or meditation is required.
To book, please contact info@oxfordtantrawave.com. The cost for the day is £30, £25 concs.

Further info
Headlining the event will be Charlie Henry, “a one-woman music box” who has recently moved to our fair city from Bristol. Charlie creates rich orchestral soundscapes using a loop pedal, a cello, a pair of ukuleles, a saw, and her voice, and will be joined by some special guest accompanists familiar to followers of the Oxford acoustic scene. She recently released ‘The Borth-y-Gest EP’ which can be heard at www.charliehenry.bandcamp.com.
The evening will open with a set from Joshua Knight. Previously a solo performer with only his voice, guitar and unparalleled skill at whistling to support him, Joshua will be joined tonight by cellist Josie Webber. There will then be some spoken word from Stephen Hancock, who has (according to his press officer) “been performing poetry in quirky East Oxford venues since 1992. He has recently had a poem about carrots translated into Korean.” The first half will end with singer-storyteller (and occasional Catweazle host) FaceOmeter, whose high-octane songs combine surrealism, history, and philosophical enquiry (see www.faceometer.tk). Alan Buckley will compere the evening, and perform some poems before Charlie’s set in the second half.

7:30pm-9pm - evening performance: Russell and Alexander are seasoned musicians and improvisers. Responding to the experience, reflective dialogue with the audience explores the unconscious, philosophy, emotions, healing, and deep, embedded functions of music.£12/£10*
