A variety of different groups meet at the garden on a regular basis and welcome new members. Please contact the groups directly for further information, not the garden. If you can’t see the right group for you, why not start your own? We're always pleased to welcome new group bookings as well as bookings for one off events. Chanting in the Cabin

Meet: Monthly - Fridays 7.30-9.30pm

29th July and then: Sept 23rd / Oct 28th / Nov 25th

A mix of easy to follow songs & chants from various Indian traditions, all of which have different flavours - some more tuneful and uplifting and some more deep & grounding. Most have guitar or harmonium accompaniment, and sometimes other instruments show up as well. We also favour the non-pitch perfect experimental approach and spend some of the session just making the sounds that want to be made, with no structure or accompaniment, seeing where it wants to go. We also love to sit and absorb the echo for a while after making sound.

It's a great opportunity to relax, enjoy your voice and make sound without the pressure to get it right or be musically great. There are also many known health benefits and good reasons to do this, and it's also a lovely way to hang out with community.

Donations to good causes. We provide refreshments. No experience needed.

Seeds of Change

Meet: 21st Sept - 2 Nov 2016

Strengthening Ourselves: Strengthening Our Communities

Are you volunteering or working in the community to support others? Or perhaps you are campaigning against government cuts? Maybe you are protesting against environmental destruction?

This autumn we are inviting people to come together over 7 evenings to explore tools and strategies for being strong and resilient in these hard times, knowing that the work we do together will in turn strengthen our communities.

Working alongside others can be fun, but it can also be hard work. With such relentless cuts and such important fights to be fought it is hard to feel like there's time to stop and rest.

This is an opportunity to get away from our busy lives and take stock. Together we can share experiences, develop skills and learn new ways of looking after ourselves so that we can keep going for the long haul. Over these 7 weeks, we will explore ways to support our well-being and the well-being of our groups and communities.

Free Taster Evening
Wed 21st Sept

28th Sept - 2nd Nov

For the full course, we’ll ask people to contribute on a sliding scale of £10 - £70.
Tea and biscuits will be provided.
The venue is fully accessible.

The group is led by experienced gardener and horticulturalist Charlotte Attlee who will be sharing her skills, knowledge and enthusiasm. This is part of a larger project called Our Heritage of Common Plants and is linked to a series of events which celebrate the uses of familiar plants in cooking, medicine, folklore and craft.
The group is suitable for all – whatever your experience or physical fitness or mobility. You can just turn up and you are welcome to come for all or just some of the time. Please wear suitable clothes and bring a packed lunch if you are staying for the day. Tea and coffee provided.
