Sun 29th Jan 2012: Stone Carving Workshop
11am-5pm. Ever wanted to try sculpting in stone? It is a beautiful medium that has been central to artistic traditions for thousands of years but unfortunately many people never get the opportunity to do it themselves. However with a few simple tools and suitable stone, carving can in fact be very accessible and should be made so.
If you would like to give stone carving a try come along to an introductory workshop at the garden.
Tools and basic instruction will be provided for free and polyphant (a speckled Cornish soapstone), alabaster and limestone are available for purchase. Costs of stones varies between about £5 and £10 depending on size. Donations to the garden welcome.
This workshop is aimed primarily at adults but parents who would like to bring and supervise children aged 10+ are welcome to do so.
Please contact Jonny at jonny.wild78@gmail.com or on 07423 066728 if you would like to come so that he can have an idea of numbers. Numbers may be limited by the number of tools available.
