Garden 1

Recycling & Waste

We promote recycling through use of reclaimed materials, separating litter, composting and the use of waste materials for artistic projects, seed and plant exchanges and swap shops.

Swap Shops

Swap shops are like table top sales, but with no money involved! Bring your unwanted clothes, books, toys, CDs, DVDs, household goods and pick up something you really do want or need. No electrical items please. You don't have to bring something to swap. You can leave stuff without taking anything if you want. More info available on the GAG website: here

Seed & Plant exchanges

We regularly hold seed and plant exchanges for gardeners to bring any surplus they have and exchange it for seeds or plants they would like for their gardens, window boxes or allotments. We are also growing heritage seeds with support from Henry Doubleday Association website: here

Composting

Composting is currently at an early stage of development, but the garden project would like to be able demonstrate a range of working composting techniques - from compost toilets to wormery, hot boxes and traditional compost heaps.

Water

The garden has mains water for cooking and washing up. Water for other purposes such as watering plants is collected from the roof of the shed and collected in large rainwater harvesting tanks.
