Garden Volunteers
Barracks Lane Community Project is what you make it! There are a range of ways of getting more involved including joing a garden group, project or workshop.
Garden Guardians
The 'Garden Guardians' are members of the community who, on a voluntary basis agree to spend a regular slot in the garden - say one afternoon a month or every six months, according to the time they have available. Currently the garden opens on Saturday and Sundays and Guardians ensure that the gates are opened in the morning or secured at the end of the day. Each Guardian shift runs from 11am to 2pm or from 2pm to 5pm.
Guardians ensure that there is always someone present in the garden to welcome people and keep an eye on things. Guardians often come with friends or family and picnic - or with a good book or the Sunday papers. They all report that it is a wonderful peaceful place to spend time - and if it is cold or wet there is always the yurt and the woodburner to keep you warm and dry.
