Winter Greenery Event and Special Exhibition at Barracks Lane Community Garden
Date:  18th December 2016
Time:  11am – 2pm

Come and join us around the wood burning stove to make decorations and garlands with winter greenery.

This is a particularly special event because we will also be celebrating the successful conclusion of our Heritage of Common Plants project which has been running over the past 12 months.  We will be displaying beautiful panels which describe the project in text and photos and showing off our community herbaria, celebrating plants commonly found in the garden and the local stories and memories connected to them.  Please do come and join us.  Everyone most welcome.

Refreshments:  Refreshment stall with mulled wine, mince pies, samosas and cake.
Suitable for everyone with a warm indoor space and plenty of chairs!  Please bring any ribbons, fir cones and other decorations to share if you have them.
Cost:  By donation.  We suggest a minimum £5 donation for garlands and swags or per family to support the garden.

Parking:  Parking near the garden is very limited.  If you are bringing a car please park towards Oxford Spires Academy on Barracks Lane.  Please park bicycles by the allotment railings.  You are welcome to bring buggies and mobility scooters into the garden.
The garden is fully accessible including our wonderful composting loo.

We look forward to welcoming you to the garden.

Chanting in the cabin
Details of groups who meet regularly at the garden are on the website.  In December and January we have chanting in the cabin, crafting sessions with the Quiltbag group, weekly sessions with the Name It!  youth group and a new series of Qigong for health and well-being.

Remember the garden in the winter makes a lovely venue for your own event with a wood burner making the cabin very cosy.   You can book the garden all the year around.  http://www.barrackslanegarden.org.uk

Review and Planning for 2017

Can you help us make the garden even better?  In January, we (the trustees of the garden) will be holding a review and planning meeting to focus on what we would like to do in 2017 and beyond.  We will be looking at issues under a number of heading including:
What physical improvements need to be made to the garden which will benefit all visitors?
How can we ensure that we have enough income to meet the core costs of running the garden now and in the future?
What do we need to do to keep running our events programme, deliver existing projects and plan for new ones?
Can we improve communications and outreach?
How can we support and improve our volunteer programme?
How can we improve governance?
We welcome input from everyone and if you have any ideas, thoughts, comment or suggestions you would like to share, please email or phone them through to us.  There is also a suggestions box in the garden.  Please get in touch by January 17th 2017.  We look forward to hearing from you.
