Chanting in the cabin

Meet: Monthly - Fridays 7.30-9.30pm.  Oct 28th and Nov 25th

A mix of easy to follow songs & chants from various Indian traditions, all of which have different flavours - some more tuneful and uplifting and some more deep & grounding. Most have guitar or harmonium accompaniment, and sometimes other instruments show up as well. We also favour the non-pitch perfect experimental approach and spend some of the session just making the sounds that want to be made, with no structure or accompaniment, seeing where it wants to go. We also love to sit and absorb the echo for a while after making sound.

It's a great opportunity to relax, enjoy your voice and make sound without the pressure to get it right or be musically great. There are also many known health benefits and good reasons to do this, and it's also a lovely way to hang out with community.

Donations to good causes. We provide refreshments. No experience needed. You can just drop in - no need to book.

Volunteer Gardening and Skill Sharing Group

We will be in the garden on the 1st and the 8th of October  11.30am - 4.30pm for the last of our volunteer days this year.  Do join us and learn how to put your garden to bed for the winter months.
The group is led by experienced gardener and horticulturalist Charlotte Attlee who will be sharing her skills, knowledge and enthusiasm. This is part of a larger project called Our Heritage of Common Plants and is linked to a series of events which celebrate the uses of familiar plants in cooking, medicine, folklore and craft.

The group is suitable for all – whatever your experience or physical fitness or mobility. You can just turn up and you are welcome to come for all or just some of the time.    Please wear suitable clothes and bring a packed lunch if you are staying for the day. Tea and coffee provided.
Note:  Many hands make light work:  The 8th of October is the harvest festival and we will be doing a group bulb planting event - please come and lend a hand!
